GIS may request from the notifying entity the opinion of the Dietary Supplements Committee or the opinion of a science-research unit. It may be an opinion of a competent research unit of another European Union Member State or the relevant national research unit listed in the register referred to in the Regulation of the Minister of Health on a Template of the Notification Form for Products Newly Placed on the Polish Market, Register of the Products Requiring Notification and the List of National Science-Research Units Competent to Issue Opinions (Dz. U. z 2011r., nr 80 poz. 437). Presently these are Institute of Mother and Child, Food and Nutrition Institute, The Institute of Natural Fibers and Medicinal Plants, National Institute of Public Health - National Institute of Hygiene, Children’s Memorial Health Institute, National Medicines Institute, National Veterinary Institute – National Research Institute, Institute of Rural Medicine, Sports Institute, and Institute of Sport – National Research Institute. The abovementioned opinion refers primarily to the correct qualification of the product and its safety.
